The Istanbul Archaeological Museums are next to Topkapi Palace, entered from the Gulhane side. Three buildings share one ticket: the main museum, the Museum of the Ancient Orient, and the Tiled Kiosk of 1472.
Practical notes: closed Mondays, open roughly 09:00 to 18:30 in summer and until 17:00 in winter. The collection exceeds a million objects but the route through the highlights takes about ninety minutes. There is a cafe in the courtyard and the halls are air-conditioned.
Do not miss the Alexander Sarcophagus, the Sarcophagus of the Mourning Women, and the Kadesh Treaty tablet, the oldest surviving written peace agreement.
From Hotel Yasmak Sultan the walk is about ten minutes, and it combines naturally with Gulhane Park and Topkapi on the same morning.
