Arasta Bazaar is a single pedestrian street of roughly seventy shops directly behind the Blue Mosque, built in the seventeenth century as part of the mosque complex.
Stock is mainly carpets, kilims, ceramics, textiles and silver — much the same as the Grand Bazaar, but the street is narrow, quiet and impossible to get lost in. Prices are broadly comparable; bargaining is accepted but the manner is low-key.
Most shops open around nine and close by seven. The entrance to the Great Palace Mosaic Museum is on this street and takes about twenty minutes to visit.
From Hotel Yasmak Sultan the walk is about eleven minutes, and it combines easily with the Blue Mosque since the two share a wall.
