Sogukcesme Street is a two-hundred-metre lane that connects the area behind Hagia Sophia with the gate of Topkapi Palace. If you are walking between the two, taking this route instead of the main road costs nothing and is considerably more pleasant.
The wooden houses along it were built in the nineteenth century for palace employees and restored in the 1980s. They are now used as guesthouses and cafes, but the street itself is closed to traffic and stays quiet through most of the day.
No ticket, no opening hours. From Hotel Yasmak Sultan it is about eight minutes on foot, and it fits naturally into the walk up from Sirkeci towards Sultanahmet, which is the route most of our guests take on their first morning.
